List And Description of Adsense Alternatives

Kontera
www.Kontera.com
Kontera is another popular contextual link advertising program. When you sign up to serve Kontera ads on your blog, its ContentLink function automatically links contextually relevant keywords in your blog posts to ads. Those keywords appear with a double underline within your existing blog post. Figure shows how Kontera ads look on a blog. When a visitor hovers the mouse cursor over the Kontera linked text, a small bubble box appears and displays an advertisement served by one of Kontera’s advertisers. When a visitor to your blog clicks that advertisement, the advertiser’s Web site opens in the browser. Kontera works harmoniously with Google AdSense and is open to bloggers whose blogs meet the current requirements outlined on the Kontera Web site.

One of the best features about Kontera is its virtual lack of a footprint on your blog. Rather than use space in your sidebar or header or between your blog posts, Kontera in-text ads appear within your blog posts and link relevant ads to the words that are already used in your posts. It’s a simple way to add a moneymaking option with some upfront effort but little ongoing work to keep it going. You can customize the look of your ContentLink ads, create filtering instructions to define the number of ads and advertisers allowed and
customize other factors, too. Of course, for optimum results, you should monitor keyword performance and write your blog posts with high-performing keywords in mind.

Maintaining Your SEO Status

Keeping your blog optimized for search engines should be part of your regular site maintenance routine. There are always improvements being made to optimization tools, the Blogger platform, and search engines. Every season, there is fresh fruit to harvest.

Controlling the Destiny of Your Blog

If you write the content, they will come. We all know some really cool bloggers who barely make their first post and are instantly famous and sought after. The reality for most of us is it takes continuous effort to build an audience and achieve high search engine rankings. You can control the destiny of your blog.

You can continue to improve your blog by maintaining:

  • The title and description of your blog
  • The content of your posts
  • The settings of your blog
  • Who you link to, and who links to you

It can be an uphill struggle. People who don't blog think it is easy. Stick it out, and remember there are some things you cannot control about your blog.

How Site Feeds Work in Blogger

Site feeds are an important feature of blogspot blogs. When site feeds are turned ON, visitors can subscribe to feeds collected from the content of your blog posts and comments. A feed reading service then sends the title, a short description, author, and date or time stamp as an XML file to a website, application, or mobile device from where the subscribers can then read the information at their own leisure.

Blogger blogs have three types of feeds that you can directly control within Blogger: Blog posts, Blog Comments, and Per-Post Comment feeds. You can turn them all off or choose to transmit the full content of an individual feed, its short description, or nothing at all. The fourth type of feed is label feeds. We will look at them later on in this chapter.
Choosing a Feed Protocol for Your Blog
There are two feed protocols popular with blog visitors. Both of them use XML to wrap content and deliver it as feeds. If you prefer one over the other, or if you know that your audience does, you can specify the feed protocol. Atom: It is officially known as Atom Syndication Protocol. It is a popular feed protocol, and it is the one used for Blogger feeds by default. RSS: The popular definition is Really Simple Syndication. No one actually agrees on what it stands for. It is usually the first acronym to come to mind when people think of feed syndication. It is actually a protocol, the way Kleenex is the name of a brand of tissue.
Multiple Feed Protocol Icons Confuse Visitors
Choose one protocol, RSS or Atom, and go with it। You've visited blogs and other sites with multiple feed buttons. The average person only finds them confusing. Many people have sophisticated feed reader services that can detect the types of available feeds and capture them automatically. You can also redirect your blog feeds to a third-party service, and let it serve feeds to your visitors and the world at large.
